Gilgit Baltistan Sustainable Tourism Initiative (GBSTI) is an initiative of academics of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Karakoram International University (KIU) to promote sustainable and responsible tourism in Gilgit Baltistan.

GBSTI seeks to develop and disseminate audiovisual and written materials to increase awareness about responsible and sustainable tourism in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan.

The principal objective is to advocate for conscientious and sustainable conduct among both domestic and international tourists visiting Gilgit Baltistan, concurrently emphasizing the necessity for the local community, governmental bodies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to discharge their responsibilities in this context.

This initiative (GBSTI) is geared towards fostering an enhanced and contextual understanding and sensitization of our roles and obligations as either tourists or host communities, government and non-government entities. Furthermore, it seeks to safeguard the region’s innate splendor, natural environment, and the rich diversity of inhabitants, to ensure GB’s preservation and sustenance for generations to come.

We would greatly appreciate the widespread circulation of this information comprising videos and written content to facilitate a broader awareness.
