The Qur’an, Islam’s sacred scripture revealed in the 7th century A.D., is regarded by Muslims as a source of wisdom, philosophy, and moral guidance for living a responsible life with accountability to the Creator. However, whether it should also be considered a book of science remains a subject of ongoing debate. This article examines two key themes: (1) linguistic and numerical patterns within the Qur’an that some interpret as deliberate symmetries, and (2) verses that appear to foreshadow scientific discoveries in fields such as embryology, cosmology, geology, and oceanography. It also considers critical perspectives, including concerns about retrospective interpretations and semantic flexibility.
